Studying Business Information Systems

That businesses rely on computers to function is a no-brainer. However, equipping a business with the right IT infrastructure (computers, servers), bespoke software packages and building and running large databases is no easy feat!

Studying business information systems (BIS)prepares you to do all those tasks. You will learn to manage IT projects, design requirements, analyse businesses and recommend tailored IT solutions. With more and more firms using cloud computing, mobile technologies and social media to run and connect with clients and suppliers, BIS professionals will never be short of jobs.

Australian universities deliver well-organised, industry-relevant programmes that are valued by employers. In fact, most programmes are embedded with a work experience option which involves either undertaking a work placement or completing a relevant project at an external company.

Several of Australia’s 37 universities offer programmes in BIS. It’s worth pointing out that some universities call this subject IT Project Management or Information Systems.

Some of the universities where you could study are:

  • Swinburne University of Technology
  • La Trobe University
  • Central Queensland University
